Our BOOTrek hike took us through a mix of trails and allowed us to see parts of the forest not normally seen by most hikers. Club members signed up for the overnight backpacking trip and enjoyed a couple remote ponds, many pileated woodpecker calls, one teeny snake, towering pines in open forest, no mud this time, and a cool evening. There was a burn ban and the group improvised a cheery illumination from water jugs and a headlamp. Almost as nice as a fire--and without the smoke! Our next member-only Backpacking trip is in February 2025.
