Hiking_ImageThe Club organizes frequent dayhikes and overnight backpacking trips to encourage trail usage and backcountry skills development.  Most events are open to the public.  See our Events list for scheduled hikes.  Club hikes take place in different locations throughout the year, and traverse nearly all sections of the 128 mile Lone Star Hiking Trail footpath system.

Sustaining_ImageClub-sponsored workdays help keep the trail in tip-top shape.  Planned workdays are shown on our Events page.  Volunteers must have a current VSA with the USFS.  Go to our Volunteer page for information.  We advocate for continual improvement and sustainable upkeep and construction on the trail.  Working closely with the Lone Star Hiking Trail Foundation, we have a long range view to assure that the trail is preserved and available for generations to come.

Informing_ImageWe provide information about the Lone Star Hiking Trail, other Texas foot trails, and the Sam Houston National Forest.  Our detailed LSHT Maps are updated frequently, and we strive to promote the trail and its use to a broad range of community stakeholders.  Above all, we want hikers to be well informed so hikes are safe and enjoyable.  Naturalist-led hikes inspire young and old alike about the forest and what's in it.
